October 24, 2017 Arguments

”When you are arguing with an idiot, a passerby sees two idiots.” – Mark Twain

Twain’s advice is sound for all of us. I see the “conversation” occurring between a congresswoman and the White House Chief if Staff and can’t help but remembering this advice. Those who take the time to read the transcripts of both “leaders” remarks will see a very different conversation than what the press is portraying. I feel bad for Gen Kelly for many reasons, but mostly because he is trying to make people understand the gravity of the circumstances around the conversation, but most people are only seeing two idiots. I know he tried to take the high road, but as previous posts have stated, the press doesn’t sell positive or honorable news. He’s in a no win situation as described by Twain.

We had a similar situation during a party at our house Saturday night. Two people got into a very emotional argument that simply didn’t need to happen. I’m not saying who was right or who was wrong, but I am saying that one of them should have walked away before passersby could make an assessment.  Always best to avoid the argument with an idiot. It never makes you look good even if you win.
