Today’s post is about the things I miss from my childhood. It’s also an opportunity for others to pile on with their nostalgic thoughts. First, let me clarify that I am only talking about the things that bring me fond memories from that time. This is not a qualitative judgment of whether that time was better than current times. It’s also not an expression of a desire to have those things now. It’s simply a list of things that once existed, may no longer exist, made me happy when I had them, and make me happy when I think of them. Here goes:
Ranger Rick magazine
Encyclopedia Brown mystery books
Those books that featured four different athletes’ stories
My Evel Kneivel wind up motorcycle
Sam and Ninah’s five and dime store where all the candy cost no more than a nickel
Marbles
My first pocket knife
My red Stan Musial baseball glove
Jarts
Bike jumps made out of plywood over a couple cinder blocks
Jolly Good soda
Over to you readers.
You grew up with good stuff. Makes me smile, too. 🙂
