I realized I forgot to post yesterday, and so am posting what my thoughts on yesterday were and then will post again later today for my Monday ruminations. Yesterday as we were driving into the rugged countryside of Connemara we stopped at a little town named Roundstone. We had a fantastic lunch at a little cafe and it came up how beautiful the weather was and that it had been horrible just the day prior. We joked with the owners that “we bring good weather with us” since in all of our trips here we have had unusually good weather the entire time.
The more I thought about it, the more I like that line, because, in many ways we do bring an atmosphere with us wherever we go, and that atmosphere makes all of the difference as to whether we see things as good or bad… including the weather. Snowy winter nights can be good or bad depending on your point of view and attitude. Gray, misty days can be cold and miserable or hauntingly beautiful. Bright, sunny days can be pleasant and inviting or glaring and stifling. It matters less what the weather actually is than how we approach it.
So, yes, Sunday was cool and sunny and good. Today is misty and gray…and good.
